Beware the Ides of March
By Alistair McIntosh, CEO, HQN
2019: will it be a big year for housing? We certainly think so, which is why we’ve planned a special conference called ‘2019 – a big for housing’.
Set for 13 December and held in that London village, the event will take a look at the year ahead and scrutinize 2018’s highs and lows. Anyway, here’s a few words from HQN CEO Alistair McIntosh…
It’s all too easy to get caught up in the blur of Christmas. You’ve got so many deadlines to hit before the close of play.
Yes, we know you are busy. But it’s worth pausing to think about what next year will bring. Brexit is meant to go ahead at the end of March. Will this be the end of the world as we know it? Or just a damp squib like the much-hyped millennium bug. That’s one of the topics we will be looking at with a galaxy of top speakers such as:
-Jonathan Walters from the RSH on their plans for regulating through any crises brought on by Brexit and what they expect from you
-David Orr with a personal take on the future of housing
-Aileen Evans on Placeshaping after Brexit and the Green Paper
-Simon Rubinsohn from RICS on his hopes and fears for the housing market
-Sarah Jones the shadow housing minister on what Labour would do differently
-Don Peebles from CIPFA will reflect on the prospects of councils returning to building homes in a big way
And at this time of year it is vital we listen to what Rick Henderson of Homeless Link has to say.
