Gov offers £millions to fight criminal landlords
The government has announced a big heap of cash to help councils fight rogue landlords, so they’d better watch out.
Housing minster Heather Wheeler says local authorities will be able to bid for the new £2 million fund, which they can put towards enforcement action against landlords that ‘make tenants’ lives a misery’.
MP Wheeler said: ‘Everyone deserves to live in a home that is safe and secure, and it is vital we crack down on the small minority of landlords who are not giving their tenants this security.
‘This funding will help further strengthen councils’ powers to tackle rogue landlords and ensure that poor-quality homes in their area are improved, making the housing market fairer for everyone.’
The Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government’s press release declares that the funding will go towards a range of council projects designed to beef up action against criminal landlords, such as helping to build relationships with the emergency services and local housing advocates.
Now, I’d like to give you a link so you can apply for the funding but there doesn’t seem to be one, so how about this link to the press release instead?
